Christening & Baptism Gifts Australia: Best Ideas for Boys and Girls (2026)
Searching for christening or baptism gifts that won't end up forgotten in a drawer? We're an Australian family business, and personalised Bibles and christening keepsakes are what we make every day. We've delivered over 200 orders through our Etsy shop, and our Bibles are also stocked at Upper Room in Ramsgate. This guide shares what we've learned in the workshop.

What is a good gift for a christening?
The best christening gifts are personal, lasting and connected to faith. A good test is to ask: will they still have it when they're grown up? A gift with the child's name and christening date passes that test, while toys and clothes are usually outgrown within months.
Quick guide: find the right gift
| Who you are | Our suggestion |
|---|---|
| Godparent | Laser engraved NIV Bible |
| Catholic family | NRSV Catholic Bible with rosary |
| Orthodox family | Icon altar with cross |
| Guest wanting a keepsake | Personalised trinket box |
| Something for later years | Personalised children's Bible |
1. A laser engraved Bible (baby's first Bible)
Our dark brown NIV Bibles are laser engraved in our Australian workshop. The laser cuts the name into the cover itself, so it won't peel or fade. The child's name with the christening date underneath makes a lovely layout. See the engraved NIV Bible, or the initials version for a simpler monogram.
2. A personalised children's Bible

For a Bible they can enjoy as they grow, the illustrated Lion Children's Bible is personalised with their name on the cover. See the personalised children's Bible.
3. A Bible and rosary gift set

For Catholic and Orthodox christenings, our personalised Bible with rosary beads comes complete in a gift box, so there's nothing extra to buy or wrap.
4. A gold christening brush, comb and rattle set
A classic nursery keepsake, personalised with the baby's name. See the brush set.
5. A gold cross christening pin
Worn on the christening outfit and kept forever. See the cross pin.
6. A personalised trinket box

A keepsake box for the christening cross, a lock of hair or the first tooth. View the trinket box.
7. A personalised christening gown hanger
Displays the gown on the day and keeps it safe afterwards. See the custom name hanger.
8. An engraved children's cutlery set
A practical gift they'll use at family meals. See the Stanley Rogers kids' cutlery set.
9. A ballerina music box
A keepsake for little girls that grows more special every year. See the ballerina box.
10. An icon altar for their room
The start of a child's prayer corner, especially for Greek and Coptic Orthodox families. View the icon altar.
From our workshop: three tips
- Check the spelling twice. We engrave and personalise exactly what's entered, so read the name out loud before ordering, especially for names with more than one spelling.
- Shorter names look best on the front. First and middle names suit the cover. Longer messages and verses work better on the back.
- You don't need to order months ahead. We dispatch the next business day, so ordering a week or two before the service is usually plenty.
Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between engraved and personalised?
Our dark brown NIV Bibles are laser engraved, which cuts the name permanently into the cover. Our other Bibles and gifts are personalised with the name applied to the cover. Both are done in our Australian workshop.
What do you bring to a christening?
Most guests bring a wrapped gift and a card. Keepsakes are more appropriate than toys or clothes, and anything with the child's name is always well received.
What should godparents give?
Traditionally something spiritual and lasting, which is why a Bible is such a popular choice. Read our godparent gift guide.
How far ahead should I order?
We dispatch the next business day with free tracked shipping Australia-wide. Allow extra time for bulk or twin orders.
Can you do matching Bibles for twins?
Yes. Contact us and we'll personalise them as a matching set, each with one twin's name and the shared christening date.
