Personalised Gifts Australia: How to Choose a Meaningful Keepsake

Choosing a personalised gift is harder than it looks. You want something that will last, that says something real, and that doesn't end up in a drawer. Over the years we've made hundreds of engraved gifts in our Australian workshop, and this guide shares what we've learned about what makes a personalised gift worth giving.

What makes a gift personalised?

A personalised gift has something on it that's specific to the person receiving it: a name, a date, initials, a verse or a message. The best ones are made for one occasion and kept for a lifetime.

The most common personalised gifts in Australia are:

  • Engraved Bibles for christenings, baptisms, First Holy Communion and confirmations
  • Keepsake and trinket boxes for children and new parents
  • Serving boards engraved with a family name or wedding date
  • Rosary Bibles for Catholic families
  • Pastor and leader gifts for appreciation days

Our most-requested personalised gifts

Engraved NIV Bible. The NIV is the most widely read modern English Bible. Ours are engraved with the name, date and a short verse. This is our most popular christening gift. Browse personalised Bibles.

NKJV Bible with rosary beads. Our Catholic and Orthodox families often choose the NKJV with rosary beads, gift-boxed and ready to give.

NRSV Catholic Bible. Many Catholic parishes use the NRSV Catholic edition. We engrave it for First Communion and confirmation. See our First Communion and confirmation gift guide.

Children's Bible. Written in simple language for young readers, personalised with the child's name.

Not sure which translation suits your family? Our NIV vs NKJV vs NRSV guide explains the differences.

How to choose a personalised Bible

  1. Check the translation with your church or family. Catholic families often prefer NRSV or a Catholic edition. Many Anglican and Protestant families choose NIV or NKJV.
  2. Decide what to engrave. Most families engrave the child's full name and the date of their christening or baptism. Keep it short, because longer text is harder to read on the cover. Our what to engrave on a Bible guide has ideas.
  3. Plan delivery time. Every order is personalised by hand and dispatched the next business day, with free tracked shipping across Australia and to New Zealand.
  4. Order early for events. Christenings and First Communions fill up quickly in spring. Allow a week or more before the date.
